Dessert recipes christmas fruit cake

Preparation time: 25 minutes
Cooking: 35 minutes
Serves: 5


Ingredients:


– 8inch/20cm Chirstmas fruit cake
– 1-2 tbls apricot jam, sieved and warmed
– 8oz/225g marzipan sugar like caster, for sprinkling


Icing and decoration:


– ½ basic quantity Royal Icing
– 3 sugar bells
– 2 holly leaves
– 1 cake candle
– 22cm colored ribbon


Method:


Bake the mixture in a greased and lined deep 8in/20cm round cake tin in the oven preheated to 300f/150c/Gas 2 for 1¾ hours, and leave it to cook down.


Brush the top of the cake with jam. Roll out the marzipan on a sugared surface to an 8½in/21cm round. Invert the cake on the marzipan.Using a small palette knife, smooth the edges of the marzipan against the sides of the cake.


Place the cake, right way up, on a cake board and leave the marzipan to dry for 2-3 days.


Swirl the icing over the top of the cake Decorate with the bells, holly and candle and leave to set. When ready to serve, tie a ribbon around the side of the cake. Make 10 to 12 slices to serve 5 person.
